Tried laser elsewhere and it didn't work?

You're not out of options — you may have had the wrong laser.

Many of our clients come to us after disappointing results elsewhere. The reason is usually the machine: most high-street clinics use diode lasers, which struggle with certain hair and skin types. We use a Motus AY by DEKA — the only system in Basingstoke with a true Alexandrite (not a diode) alongside Nd:YAG, so we treat the widest range of skin tones and hair colours, and often get results where weaker lasers couldn't.

We use a Motus AY by DEKA — UK medical-grade and FDA-approved, and the only laser in Basingstoke using a true Alexandrite rather than a diode, for superior results across skin types. We also have Nd:YAG, IPL and a pain-free Moveo option, plus skin cooling for comfort.

Good to know

Frequently asked questions

Does it hurt?
Most people don't find laser hair removal painful and compare it to being flicked with a rubber band — far less painful than waxing or electrolysis. For lower pain thresholds we have a pain-free option and a skin-cooling machine to numb the area.
How many treatments will I need?
As a rule we recommend 6–10 treatments, spaced 4–6 weeks apart. The most responsive clients see major reduction in just 1–2 sessions; those with hormonal factors or very light hair may need more. We'll give you our best estimate at your free consultation.
Is a patch test really necessary?
Yes — it's a UK legal requirement and it's for your safety. It lets us inspect your skin, tailor the laser settings to your skin type, and make sure the treatment is suitable, comfortable and effective.
How does it work?
The laser fires a bright light absorbed by the melanin in the hair, which turns to heat and damages the follicle so it can't regrow. Because it targets pigment, white and very fine vellus hairs aren't affected — for those we offer electrolysis.
Which skin types can you treat?
All of them. Our true Alexandrite and Nd:YAG lasers safely treat the full range of skin tones, and we can treat a wider range of hair colours than weaker systems. White hair is best treated with electrolysis.
How should I prepare?
Shave (don't wax, pluck or thread) the area before treatment — the hair needs its root intact below the skin. Avoid sun exposure, sunbeds and fake tan in the run-up. We'll send full preparation notes after your consultation.
What about aftercare?
Avoid heat (hot baths, saunas, vigorous exercise), sun exposure and swimming for 24–48 hours afterwards. We'll give you simple aftercare guidance at your appointment.
Are your therapists qualified?
Yes — all our laser therapists are trained to Level 4 in Laser & Light Based Therapies. Our head therapist holds the L4 Laser Core of Knowledge plus advanced device training, and CIBTAC L4 qualifications. The clinic is fully insured and follows HSE best practice.
